L'Or de Jean Martell - Réserve du Château, the launch of an exceptional collection

Exquisite cognac collection honours French ‘art de vivre’

A highly exclusive collection of exceptional cognac unveiled by Maison Martell pays homage to France’s most prestigious châteaux and the savoir-faire that has defined the House for more than 300 years.

L’Or de Jean Martell – Réserve du Château is a blend of more than 1,400 eaux-de vie from the four finest terroirs in the Cognac region.

For each Réserve du Château edition Cellar Master Christopher Valtaud will enrich the complex blend with a careful selection of eaux-de-vie from years evoking the history of a chosen château and that of Maison Martell.

The collection is extremely limited to 1,000 individually numbered decanters each year.

Released in 2024, the inaugural edition celebrates the Martell family’s historic Château de Chanteloup in the heart of Borderies, the House’s signature terroir since its founding by Jean Martell in 1715.

That same year saw the death of Louis XIV, the Sun King, a period considered the golden age of French art de vivre, epitomised through its dazzling and often gilded châteaux.

The exquisite blend is presented in an iconic decanter from Maison Baccarat, a uniquely elegant crystal creation that complements the richness and refinement within.

The luxury decanter has a contemporary design evoking a single, pure drop of cognac, culminating in a neck embellished in 19–carat gold, and is contained within a beautifully crafted ornamental wooden display box.

    An intimate, luxurious launch

A handpicked guestlist of media and opinion-leaders attended the collection launch in Paris and Cognac, the meticulously curated two-day event welcoming the likes of Rose Bertram, Irene Kim, Luka Sabbat and Mergim Shabani.

Maison Martell’s invitees delighted in a tour of Maison Baccarat, learning the rich heritage of both houses before a sumptuous evening in Salon Pompadour at Paris’ world-famous palace  Le Meurice.

The journey through history continued in Cognac to discover Maison Martell’s precious archives, coopering and blending processes, and for the first time, the Tricentenary Cellar  where l’Or de Jean Martell – Réserve du Château is aged in three-century-old barrels. The experience not only included an immersive lightmapping story about this famed cognac, but a taste from casks in the cellar.

Concluding the event, a gala at Château de Chanteloup inspired by the ‘art de la table’ of an 18th-century chateau. As a sextet performed Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons, diners enjoyed original cocktails prepared by Maison Martell’s Master Mixologist Rémy Savage, cuisine from 3-Star chef Alexandre Mazzia, and eaux-de-vie selected by Christophe Valtaud so precious is had never-before been tasted.

It was a rare and unforgettable glimpse into the world of Martell, and its three splendid centuries of exemplary savoir-faire.
