France’s leading wine industry journal honoured Maison Martell with a Gold award for art, culture and savoir-faire at the 2021 wine tourism awards.
Terre de Vins’ prestigious Trophées de l’Œnotourisme recognise excellence in France’s wine tourism sector, a multibillion-euro industry that attracts millions of visitors each year.
Maison Martell was noted for its Fondation d’Entreprise Martell and visitor centre experiences at its site in southwestern France.
As Hugo Gallimard, Maison Martell Brand Homes Manager, explained, “The House intends to create a destination that would attract and enthuse the greatest number of tourists to the Charente region.”
Visitors to Maison Martell enjoy a unique multidisciplinary experience that spans history, savoir-faire, art and culture, showcasing the House, the region, and its communities.
Central to the experience is the Fondation d’Entreprise Martell, where artists and artisans create unique works of art in unimagined ways.
Since 2016, this cultural hub has hosted residency programs with woodworkers and glassblowers, ceramicists and digital designers, alongside a full calendar of live shows and performances.
These span the full cultural spectrum of music, concerts, films and dance, as well as conferences and food events, often co-produced with regional partners.
At the visitor centre, tourists can journey through the House’s 300 years of history, savoir-faire, and heritage thanks to a series of audacious experiences, culminating in a tasting of Martell’s exceptional cognacs in the Martell boutique.
While 2020 was unprecedented in its challenges for wine tourism operators, Maison Martell’s award demonstrates it is as ready as ever to welcome the 2021 season, and re-open its doors to the world.
