Celebrating Martell’s savoir-faire

With the Year of the Tiger soon upon us, Maison Martell is proud to launch the first limited edition of the exceptional L’Or de Jean Martell cognac, inspired by the Chinese zodiac.

A prestigious collection, L’Or de Jean Martell – Zodiac Edition opens with L’Assemblage du Tigre in celebration of 2022’s namesake symbol.

The edition is presented in a magnificent crystal carafe, exquisitely decorated with a gold filigree motif.

A superb amber-hued pâte de cristal stopper comes with each  L’Or de Jean Martell carafe, handcrafted by Manufacture Daum, a renowned French crystal producer with a tradition of savoir-faire that mirrors Maison Martell’s own.

Each one-off, individually signed piece requires several hours of painstaking work by skilled artisans.

L’Or de Jean Martell is a blend of more than 700 rare and precious eaux-de-vie, the apotheosis of nine generations of savoir-faire handed down from cellar master to cellar master.

This legacy of savoir-faire inspired current Martell Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud to create the Zodiac Edition. He reveals his expertise by creating a cognac which not only retains the complex aromatic profile of L’Or de Jean Martell, but enriches it with a selection of vintage eaux-de-vie. 

Assemblage du Tigre includes eight eaux-de-vie produced during bygone Years of the Tiger from the most prestigious Cognac terroirs – Borderies, Petite Champagne & Grande Champagne.

In testament to the House’s – and his own – mastery of the art of blending, ​Christophe Valtaud combines these eaux-de-vie with the original blend in a way that preserves its elegance, richness and power, yet adds characteristics associated with the tiger.

​​The new cognac has a more vivid attack, and even greater aromatic intensity, while its exceptional length on the palate is marked by pronounced notes of red fruit and wood.
