In the mid-19th century, cognac was traded not in bottles, but fine-grained oak casks. This tradition lives on in Les Fûts Uniques de Martell, a remarkable collection of single cask eaux-de-vie. A testament to 300 years of savoir-faire, this singular release reflects Maison Martell's rich heritage. Each of the eau-de-vie proposed for Les Futs Uniques are drawn from the Réserve Héritage, a very special reserve of eaux-de-vie that have been singled out for their rare quality and their superior potential for ageing to be kept for future generations.
This eau-de-vie was produced by Maison Martell’s esteemed third Cellar Master, François Chapeau, who was also a winegrower, and brought into the Martell reserve by his successor, Pierre Frugier. It has aged for 32 years in the Martell cellars, developing luscious notes of citrus fruit, noble woods and leather – an aromatic richness characteristic of the prized Grande Champagne terroir.
Beyond Cognac, the privileged connoisseur who acquires a cask of Les Fûts Uniques de Martell will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience over three days between Paris and Cognac. Highlights include a private tasting with Christophe Valtaud, a tour of Martell’s historic cellars and archives, a gastronomic meal created by Michelin three-star chef Alexandre Mazzia in the enchanting setting of the Château de Chanteloup.
Last but not least, the client’s chosen eau-de-vie will be carefully transferred by the Cellar Master and his team from its oak cask to a series of elegant montre bottles, a contemporary reinterpretation of the glass flasks traditionally used in the Cognac region. The client will be able to choose between a selection of bottle & giftboxe designs.
